manufactured stone veneer that captures the character of natural stone with even more presence
CAN’STONE
CAN’STONE is a stacked stone look manufactured stone veneer wall material (a precast concrete product) for interior and exterior use. It captures the character of natural stone with even more presence, at roughly 1/2 the weight of real stone. Because it is made at our own factory in Japan, supply is stable and original colors can be developed. Choose the finish that fits your design.

Important Notes
・CAN’STONE is an interior and exterior wall material modeled on natural stone.
・When installing on an exterior wall, always fill the joints to at least 2/3 of the brick thickness. Without full joints, water reaches the back of the brick and causes delamination.
・For exterior walls we recommend Repel S, a penetrating water repellent, to help prevent staining, deterioration, and efflorescence.
・Color varies from piece to piece, much as it does in natural stone, so mix pieces from several cartons as you install.
・CAN’STONE is a cement product. Acid washing is strictly prohibited.
▶︎About precast concrete products
・CAN’STONE can be produced in custom colors. We can accommodate any quantity, so please talk to us about what you need.
・Because the pieces are irregular in shape, cutting loss can create some variance depending on the bond pattern. Please allow for this.
----------------------------------------------
・For tight joints, please order about 10-15% extra.
* Our standard area estimate assumes straightforward installation, laying the pieces out like boards with no setting out or cutting. On that basis we normally ask that orders allow 10-15% over the measured area to cover product loss.
・For wide joints, please order about 5% less.
・MT-MEJI coverage (25kg bag), standard joint: 2~3 m² per bag
FAQ
FAQ
Q1. Can CAN’STONE be used on exterior walls?
Yes, it can be used outdoors.
To keep it looking its best, we recommend using it together with our ancillary product Repel S (penetrating water repellent).
Q2. Is CAN’STONE an imported product?
No. It is made in Japan.
Our craftsmen make each piece by hand at our own factory here, so we can still supply matching pieces if repairs are needed in the future.
Q3. I have heard that precast concrete stone tile is weaker than porcelain tile. Is that true?
It is true that it is not as strong as porcelain tile. In recent years, however, installing with flexible adhesive has become standard practice, which largely offsets that weakness, and cracking has decreased significantly.
If a crack does appear, our STONE+AID repair compound makes it easy to fix, so you can specify the product with confidence.
Q4. CAN’STONE is a cement product, so is the cut edge cement gray?
No. Pigment is mixed into the mortar, so the cut edge is the same color as the face.
When cutting on site, we recommend scoring a line and splitting the piece with a chisel and hammer.
Q5. Is there a risk of the product being discontinued?
No. Even if we discontinue a product for our own reasons, we can produce it again at our own factory.
You can specify it with confidence, knowing repairs will still be possible.
Q6. Is CAN'STONE noncombustible? Please tell me the certification number.
CAN'STONE is a noncombustible material.
Under the Building Standards Act there are two kinds of noncombustible material:
Specified materials: noncombustible materials specified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
Certified materials: noncombustible materials granted individual ministerial certification
The mortar and concrete that CAN'STONE is made from are classified as "specified" noncombustible materials. The certification number we are often asked about is issued only for "certified" materials.
Both count as noncombustible materials under the Building Standards Act and can be used in the same way.
Q7. Can it be used in cold climates?
Yes, it can. Cold-climate pieces are made to a frost-resistant specification, so they are made to order. Avoid installing in seasons when temperatures drop below 5℃, and please schedule the work for a warmer time of year.
Q8. Can it be used around wood stoves and fireplaces?
Yes, in locations where the surface temperature stays at or below 200℃. Note that ordinary resin-based adhesives lose bond strength at these temperatures, so a mortar-based adhesive is required. For a comparison of heat resistance by adhesive type and points to watch during installation, see "Can you use brick tile around a wood stove or fireplace? Heat resistance and installation guide".
