CAN'STONE
CAN’STONE “COTSWOLDS – Cotswolds (COT)” is a stacked stone look manufactured stone veneer wall material inspired by the limestone quarried in the Cotswolds region of central England. Its soft, honey-colored character makes this series a natural choice for country and rustic interiors.

Case Studies
A honey-colored wall that keeps time.
Bringing the warmth of Cotswold stone into everyday spaces.
Cotswold stone, the honey-colored limestone quarried in the Cotswolds region of England, holds its beauty across centuries and shapes the look of the villages built from it.
This wall material recreates that warm color and texture, giving a space a calm sense of passing time and a quiet comfort.

A face drawn by nature, and no two alike.
Rust-toned shading and fine markings bring out the character of the stone

The naturally occurring rust-colored flecks and markings that characterize Cotswold stone are reproduced faithfully.
Because every piece looks a little different, the wall gains depth and interest, and the space gains character.
Joint color: Yellow

Important Notes
・CAN’STONE is an interior and exterior wall material designed after natural stone.
・When installing on an exterior wall, always fill the joints to at least 2/3 of the brick thickness. Without enough jointing mortar, water works in behind the brick and causes the pieces to come loose.
・On exterior walls we recommend “REPEL S” penetrating water repellent to guard against staining, deterioration, and efflorescence.
・Color varies from piece to piece, which is part of the character of natural stone. When setting the pieces, work from several cartons at once and mix them as you go.
・CAN’STONE is a cement product. Never acid wash it.
▶︎About precast concrete products
・CAN’STONE can be produced in custom order colors. We can work to any quantity, so please talk to us about what you need.
・Because the pieces are irregular in shape, cutting loss will vary with the laying pattern. Please allow for this when ordering.
----------------------------------------------
・For a Tight Joint, please order about 10-15% extra.
※Our standard coverage figures assume a simple installation — pieces set like boards, with no layout planning or cutting. On that basis we normally ask that you order about “10-15% more than the measured area” to cover product loss.
・For a Wide Joint, please order about 5% less.
FAQ
FAQ
Q1. Can CAN’STONE be used on exterior walls?
Yes, it can.
To keep it looking its best, we recommend using it together with our ancillary material “REPEL S” (penetrating water repellent).
Q2. Is CAN’STONE an imported product?
No. It is made in Japan.
Every piece is made by hand by our craftsmen at our in-house factory in Japan, so we can still supply matching material if repairs are needed years later.
Q3. I have heard that precast concrete stone tile is weaker than porcelain tile. Is that the case?
It is true that it is not as strong as porcelain tile. In recent years, however, installation with flexible adhesive has become standard practice, which largely compensates for this and has greatly reduced cracking.
And in the unlikely event that a crack does appear, our “STONE+AID” repair compound makes it easy to fix.
Q4. Since CAN’STONE is a cement product, is the cut edge cement gray?
No. Pigment is mixed into the mortar, so the cut edge is the same color as the face.
When cutting on site, we recommend scoring a line and splitting the piece with a chisel and hammer.
Q5. Is there a risk of the product being discontinued?
No. Even if we do discontinue a product for our own reasons, we can produce it again at our own factory.
You can specify it with confidence, knowing that material will be available if repairs are needed.
Q6. Is CAN'STONE noncombustible? Please tell me the certification number.
CAN'STONE is a noncombustible material.
Under the Building Standards Act there are two categories of noncombustible material:
“Designated”: noncombustible materials designated by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
“Certified”: noncombustible materials granted individual certification by the Minister
CAN'STONE is made of mortar and concrete, which are “designated” noncombustible materials. The certification number we are often asked for is issued only to materials in the “certified” category.
Both are noncombustible materials as defined by the Building Standards Act and can be used in the same way.
Q7. Can it be used in cold regions?
Yes. Material for cold regions is manufactured to a frost-resistant specification and is therefore made to order. Please also avoid installing during seasons when temperatures fall below 5℃, and schedule the work for a warmer time of year.
Q8. Can it be used around a wood stove or fireplace?
Yes, anywhere the surface temperature stays at or below 200℃. Ordinary resin-based adhesives lose bond strength at those temperatures, so a mortar-based adhesive is required. For a comparison of heat resistance by adhesive type and points to watch during installation, see “Can brick tile be used on wood stove and fireplace walls? Heat resistance and installation guide”.
