A tile inspired by the Akoya pearl, cultured in the clear seas of the Far East. It carries a distinctive luster that recalls fine alabaster and onyx. The lighter shades in particular show remarkable depth, achieved by layering subtle tonal nuances and balancing the design against the natural veining of the stone. A proprietary crystal finish distributes crystallized minerals evenly across the surface, giving the tile exceptional translucency.

Q1. What kind of tile is a Class BI tile?
It is a dry-pressed porcelain tile. Water absorption is 3.0% or less, which is very low, so it is highly water resistant. The surface is glazed, which makes it suitable for interior and exterior walls and floors, wet areas and a wide range of other applications.
Q2. What do matte and polished mean?
A matte surface has a fine texture that makes it less slippery, which improves safety outdoors and in areas that get wet. A polished surface is ground to a gloss for a more luxurious look, but it needs care in places that are often wet.
Q3. What is the slip resistance rating of the matte finish?
The matte finish is rated R9. That rating indicates slip resistance suitable for general use in dry conditions. It works for interior floors and relatively dry exterior areas, but not for floors that are permanently wet or for bathroom floors.
Q4. Can it be used outdoors?
It can be used on walls. Please note that it cannot be used on floors.
Q5. Is maintenance difficult?
No special maintenance is required. Porcelain tile resists staining, so wiping with water or a neutral detergent is enough for day-to-day cleaning.
Q6. Can it be used on bathroom floors?
No. The matte finish is rated R9, which is not enough for a bathroom floor that is wet all the time. Around bathrooms we recommend a rating of R11 or higher.

This is an imported tile, so there may be a wait when it is out of stock. Lead times vary with the situation, so please check with us each time you order.
