CAN'STYLE
A concrete block you bond in place. CAN'STYLE BLOCK FACE (BLO) is like a slice taken from a concrete block, a material prized for retail and similar interiors but always heavy and awkward to handle. It can go almost anywhere, which greatly widens what you can do with it.

For a European or American look, go with running bond!
In Japan, stack bond is the pattern most often used, but in Europe and America running bond is the norm. Simply changing the bond pattern gives the blockwork a handsome European and American character.

Important Notes
・Blockface is a molded cement product, so dimensions can vary by about 1.3%.
・Allow a joint width of 10-12mm for Blockface.
・When installing on an exterior wall, always fill the joints to at least 2/3 of the tile thickness.
・Without full joints, water reaches the back of the tile and causes delamination.
・To make the most of the texture, mix pieces from several cartons.
・CAN’STYLE is a cement product. Acid washing is strictly prohibited.

・The quantities required per ㎡ and per m assume the recommended joint width.
FAQ
FAQ
Q1. Can Block Face be used on exterior walls?
Yes, it can be used outdoors. Exterior-grade pieces are made to order. To keep the wall looking its best, we also recommend using our ancillary product Repel S (penetrating water repellent). Please contact us for details.
Q2. Is Block Face an imported product?
No. It is made in Japan.
Our craftsmen make each piece by hand at our own factory here, so we can still supply matching pieces if repairs are needed in the future.
Q3. Block Face is a cement product, so is the cut edge cement gray?
No. Pigment is mixed into the mortar, so the cut edge is the same color as the face.
When cutting on site, we recommend scoring a line and splitting the piece with a chisel and hammer.
Q4. Is there a risk of the product being discontinued?
No. Even if we discontinue a product for our own reasons, we can produce it again at our own factory.
You can specify it with confidence, knowing repairs will still be possible.
Q5. Is BLOCK FACE noncombustible? Please tell me the certification number.
BLOCK FACE is a noncombustible material.
Under the Building Standards Act there are two kinds of noncombustible material:
Specified materials: noncombustible materials specified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
Certified materials: noncombustible materials granted individual ministerial certification
The mortar and concrete that BLOCK FACE is made from are classified as "specified" noncombustible materials. The certification number we are often asked about is issued only for "certified" materials.
Both count as noncombustible materials under the Building Standards Act and can be used in the same way.
Q6. Can it be used around wood stoves and fireplaces?
Yes, in locations where the surface temperature stays at or below 200℃. Note that ordinary resin-based adhesives lose bond strength at these temperatures, so a mortar-based adhesive is required. For a comparison of heat resistance by adhesive type and points to watch during installation, see "Can you use brick tile around a wood stove or fireplace? Heat resistance and installation guide".
